My Story

Natasha Doyle-Merrick embarked on her political career in 2022, driven by her passion for social change and advocacy. As a dual citizen of Ireland and Canada, Natasha's multicultural background and experiences have shaped her worldview and political aspirations. Her father's family is renowned for their advocacy for the Black community in Canada, instilling in Natasha a deep sense of social justice.

During her time in Europe, where she resided in London and Dublin, Natasha became acquainted with influential political leaders who were working to transform the racial landscape of their respective countries. Witnessing the impact of the Black Lives Matter movement and the positive changes taking place, Natasha felt inspired and began collaborating with Irish political figures who were driving the changes she believed in.

Returning to Toronto, Natasha remained deeply involved in politics, ultimately joining the Ontario NDP party. Her dedication and commitment to enacting meaningful change led her manager to recommend her as a candidate for Member of Parliament in her riding. Natasha continues to work closely with the riding committee, leveraging her skills, experience, and passion to bring about positive transformation in her community.

Despite running as an MP candidate for the Ontario NDP in the 2022 provincial election with only three weeks of campaigning, she achieved a successful outcome, garnering ten percent of the popular vote. This achievement propelled her towards a career in politics, where she works closely with previous and current politicians to enact change in her community.  

Natasha's educational background has also played a crucial role in shaping her political career. She studied English and History at Dublin City University, gaining valuable insights into societal issues and historical contexts. Additionally, her studies in Global Development at Queens University further deepened her understanding of global challenges and the importance of sustainable development. To enhance her skills, Natasha pursued Social Media Marketing at George Brown College and Creative Writing at Humber College, equipping her with communication strategies to connect with constituents and convey her vision for a more equitable society.

Natasha Doyle-Merrick's political journey is defined by her unwavering commitment to social justice, her multicultural upbringing, and her educational background. As she continues to work with the Ontario NDP and engage with her community, she strives to be a force for positive change, advocating for marginalized communities and driving meaningful policy reform.
